István Nádler

Budapest, 1938-

 

He graduated from the College of Fine Arts in 1963 as a student of Gyula Hincz, and was a member of the Zugló Circle until 1966. In 1964 he went on a European study trip and painted in Vence at the invitation of the Károlyi Foundation. In 1966 he visited Paris and in 1972 he was awarded a scholarship by the Folkwang Museum in Essen. He participated in the Iparterv exhibitions and was one of the founders of the Budapest Workshop. In 1976 he worked at the Kuopio (Finland) and in 1977 at the Moravany Artists’ Camp. In 1978, he worked as a sculptor at the Győr Art Colony. In 1992 he was a fellow of the Hungarian Academy in Rome, in 1993 he was a visiting artist at the Villa Romana in Florence, and in 1995 he was a fellow in Lisbon. In 1999 he was a visiting professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. Winner of several international competitions, biennials and festivals.
