Antal Turcsányi

TISZAKANYÁR, 1940

“I’m not making pictures, it’s an element of life in the art space again.”I am Antal Turcsányi a painter. He was born in 1940 in Tiszakanyár. He graduated from the College of Fine Arts in 1962, where the great János Kmetty was a master.

As a student, it was a great responsibility to start the career as an independent artist, but he soon found his way and was able to put his own individual vision on canvas quickly. His images are object-oriented, based on free association. It paints spontaneously, only in the rarest of cases as planned. It is an outstanding and unrepeatable figure of Hungarian contemporary painting.

While painting, he is constantly looking for the secret to the idea that motivates and inspires the creation. The real being of man has always been the subject of his interest. The philosophical interpretation and map of mythological figures and the covert formulation of divine laws have always been part of his paintings.

The essence of his art is the compelling power of instinctive love of life and invention. A vigilant spiritual presence, impression, and accumulation of experiences allows for the formation of indispensable imagery in art.

Different creative methods, materials and techniques encourage the creation of different types of images. His paintings are rich against dramatic themes and have a perfectly unique color scheme. His drawings are not the representations of his paintings, but their own images, in their simple technicality, essentially carry the essence of what is being said. Drawings and pictures are characterized by the same pictorial thinking.
